MAACCE Olympics: One Conference, One Goal

Mark your calendars and get out your togas! Save the dates of June 20, 21, and 22, 2012.

MAACCE Olympics: One Conference, One Goal

Your MAACCE Planning Committee is hard at work scheduling events, speakers and activities that will tie in nicely with our theme. We already have a number of session proposals underway including pre-conference and conference topics of management, supervision, leadership, finding funding sources, third party partnerships, AEL director/instructor topics, and a myriad of others.

This year we have some new exhibitors/vendors to our conference. Boston Reed Company has opted to be a Platinum Sponsor of our event and to also provide some prizes, a breakout session and information sessions. In addition, we have a Gold Sponsor of Career Step, who will also be providing some great information on their products. World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) and Ed2Go/Gatlin are on board to bring new ideas for increasing enrollment in your programs. Mad Science of Southwest Missouri will be sponsoring our conference and providing some mid-day entertainment for our attendees-- get ready, this one will be EXCITING!

The Committee has reached out to some past members and are looking forward to see them return to our organization. A number of MAACCE Past Presidents have agreed to participate in a leadership session and share their sage advice and ideas with all of us. We're excited to be getting calls and emails from folks who are new to the educational world-- I think we'll see a lot of newcomers this year.

We are excited to offer the Leadership Development Institute and want to invite you to attend. If you are a manager, supervisor, or want to prepare to step into a more challenging role, this preconference Institute is a great place to start. Also, I encourage you to take a look at the award opportunities and nominate someone in your area who has shown excellence in our fields. This is a fantastic way to give public recognition to someone who has gone above and beyond. Don't forget our Hovland Award for those innovative programs. This award is a $1,000 gift to fund your project—and then you get an opportunity to share your outcomes with us at a later conference.

Finally, if you are interested in helping create a great conference, contact me. My grandmother used to say, "Many hands make light work." We welcome you to get on board as we "search for excellence" and "go for the gold" for our 2012 conference. (I see a theme here!)

Best wishes to all for a happy and rewarding 2012!
