Some 2,000 adult education teachers and administrators will come together March 25-28, 2018, at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix to learn best practices and receive training for the valuable work they do every day to ensure adult learners – there are 1.5 million of them in the U.S. – receive the instruction and support they need to complete basic skills and technical skills programs and transition to college programs or into family-sustaining jobs.

Ambassador Training and Interviews

For the first time in conference history, adult learners will participate in the conference with the introduction of a new ambassador training program that will give them the confidence and skills needed to publicly share their success stories and speak about their adult education experiences.
Student Ambassador Reception

This event will give adult learners the opportunity to meet other learners from across the country, share experiences and build excitement and energy around their roles as ambassadors of adult education.
General Session with Dr. Debra Estes
Monday, March 26 (9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.) ~ Phoenix Ballroom
Dr. Deborah G. Estes, consultant to the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Learning Forward and the Bureau of Education and Research, will provide the keynote address during this session.
Exhibit Hall Grand Opening

Conference-goers will have the opportunity to meet with some 60 exhibitors to learn more about their products and services and how they serve adult educators.
General Session with Dr. Michael Wooten

Dr. Michael E. Wooten, acting assistant secretary and deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education, will provide the keynote address.
State Association Meeting

State directors and state association presidents will meet with Dr. Michael Wooten, who in his role with the U.S. Department of Education oversees adult education and career and technical education.
COABE Awards Grand Finale

Outstanding individuals who have a positive impact on adult education will be recognized during this event, including Outstanding Adult Learner of the Year and Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year.
