Dear COABE members,
I am delighted to share that COABE's fourth Capitol Hill Day took place during Adult Education and Family Literacy Week and was a wonderful success, with over 110 meetings scheduled with legislators and their staff! This brings our total meetings with legislators over the last 2 years, to more than 315 meetings! Sixty plus leaders and 8 students, from nearly all 50 states, joined together to walk the Halls of Congress as we made our voice heard on the Hill on behalf of Adult Education.
I would like to thank our Committee for Advocacy and Public Policy (CAPP) Chair, Polly Smith, along with Christine Heinrich, our Coordinator, for their incredible work on all the materials and coordination related to Capitol Hill Day!
At the same time, members in the field used the simple "3 clicks/quick fire" COABE advocacy tool to contact their mayors, governors, legislators, and legislative staff which boosted our efforts while on the Hill. Many of the legislators and staff members we talked with said that they had been hearing repeatedly and often from our members. At this time, more than 33,000 contacts have been made! Keep up the good work, and please help us keep up the momentum. If you have not contacted your legislator, you can do that today, HERE.
All of our advocacy efforts are supported through a generous partnership with Aztec Software. We thank them for their support!
